BRIDGE BUILDERS
Reading aloud with children is one of the best ways of teaching children how to read. When children have a love of reading and books, they are motivated to practice reading. Because of this, some of the upper elementary students have volunteered to be reading buddies with kindergartners. Our goal is to bridge the gap to reading. Our strategy is simple. Build a foundation. Did you know? 12 sight words account for ¼ of all reading 32 sight words account for 1/3 of all reading 100 sight words account for ½ of all reading Our bridge builders read to their buddies, show them strategies for reading, and review basic sight words. |
